More AEW Departures Expected – One of the longstanding criticisms of AEW is its large roster, with many talents struggling to secure regular TV time. That issue appears to be leading to more departures in the coming weeks.
As previously reported, Leyla Hirsch’s AEW contract expires today, making her a free agent. However, she may not be the only one leaving the company soon. During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez discussed Hirsch’s exit and suggested that more departures could occur throughout March.
“I think that this will not be the last time you hear this story in the month of March,” Alvarez stated. “I have heard that there might be some departures coming up in March. Whether it’s people being released, people’s deals coming up and not being renewed. I think the fact of the matter is, they got way too many people under contract…”
He further emphasized that Hirsch is unlikely to be the last talent to leave in the next 30 days. “I think I can comfortably say she [Leyla Hirsch] will not be the last in the next 30 days.” With AEW managing an extensive roster, the company may need to streamline its talent pool to ensure more efficient use of its TV programming.
If additional exits occur, it could signal a shift in AEW’s approach to roster management as they focus on maximizing their television time and resources.
