On the April 25 SmackDown After WrestleMania 41, Aleister Black made his long-anticipated return in dramatic fashion. The episode, which marked the traditional post-WrestleMania reset and aired as a three-hour primetime special, was held at a sold-out Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Black, formerly known in AEW as Malakai Black, returned with his signature dark presentation. The arena lights dimmed and candles illuminated the stage as haunting music filled the venue. Without a word, Black emerged from the shadows, walking slowly to the ring while the crowd erupted in surprise and excitement.
Inside the ring stood The Miz, in the middle of a heated rant about his recent frustrations. The A-Lister complained about being overlooked at WrestleMania 41, citing Rey Mysterio’s injury and Randy Orton’s open challenge as missed opportunities for himself. Just as Miz continued to berate the crowd and the WWE management, Black entered the ring.
In a sudden and silent response, Aleister Black dropped Miz with a vicious Black Mass spinning heel kick, sending a clear message without uttering a single word. Black then sat cross-legged in the center of the ring, resuming his iconic pose as the audience reacted with a mix of shock and anticipation.
This marks Black’s first WWE appearance since his 2021 departure, ending a highly speculated free agency period that followed his prominent AEW run. With his return, the SmackDown landscape has shifted—dramatically and without warning.
