WWE Reveals New Details on ID Championships – WWE has released new details on its recently announced ID Championships, shedding more light on the men’s and women’s title tournaments set to begin during WrestleMania 41 week.
The company’s ID program, launched in late 2024, serves as a developmental initiative designed to support independent wrestling talent while offering a potential path to a full-time WWE contract. The program includes a presence on the WWE Evolve series on Tubi and provides contracted prospects with financial backing and exposure on the indie circuit.
As previously confirmed, WWE created two new championship belts—one for men and one for women—exclusively for its ID roster. The inaugural tournaments to crown the first champions will kick off next week at independent events hosted by Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) and Future Stars of Wrestling (FSW) in Las Vegas, coinciding with WrestleMania week.
The men’s tournament will begin with a double-elimination format. Wrestlers will be eliminated after two losses, with the final four advancing into a traditional single-elimination bracket. The women’s side will follow a round-robin format, allowing each competitor to face off against all others, with the best records determining advancement.
Early matchups for the men’s tournament include:
- Ice Williams vs. Brad Baylor
- Marcus Mathers vs. Sam Holloway
- Sean Legacy vs. Ricky Smokes
- It’s Gal vs. Cappuccino Jones
On the women’s side, the first confirmed bout is Zayda Steel vs. Kylie Rae.
While only WWE ID-contracted wrestlers will participate in the tournaments, WWE announced that once the champions are crowned, the titles will be open to challenges from all independent talent. If a non-ID wrestler captures an ID title in future defenses, they will be awarded a WWE ID contract.
“The WWE ID Championships will be open to all independent wrestlers once the champions are crowned,” WWE stated. “The titles will be defended at various independent wrestling events. If a non-WWE ID prospect wins the title, they will be awarded a WWE ID contract.”
The new titles mark another strategic move by WWE to further its influence in the independent wrestling scene while providing a talent pipeline for NXT and beyond.
