Kairi Sane Held Talks With AEW But No Deal Signed

Speculation surrounding former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane continues to build following her departure from the company, but reports indicate that her immediate wrestling future remains unresolved.

According to Fightful Select, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Sane have held formal discussions regarding a potential contract. However, the two parties have yet to finalize a deal, leaving the free-agent star on the open market. Sane officially became eligible to sign elsewhere after her 90-day non-compete clause expired following her WWE release on April 24.

AEW Rumors & International Interest

Rumors regarding a potential jump to AEW gained traction after Sane listed veteran talent agent Barry Bloom—who represents several prominent AEW roster members—as her business representative. Further fueling online chatter, Sane recently liked a fan comment on social media reading “All Elite soon,” leading many to believe a deal was eminent.

Despite those teasers, the latest reporting confirms that a contract has not been executed. While AEW maintains interest in bringing Sane aboard, multiple promotions—including major international organizations outside the United States—have also expressed interest in acquiring her services.

Notably, Sane was never factored into AEW’s creative plans for All In: London 2026 at Wembley Stadium, with sources indicating that a pre-show deal was always unlikely. Furthermore, Japan’s Marigold promotion is not currently expected to be her primary landing spot, leaving several domestic and international avenues open.

Sudden WWE Departure

Sane’s sudden exit from WWE came as a surprise to fans, particularly given her consistent featured role on WWE RAW alongside Asuka. Sane previously reflected on the timing of her release, admitting it caught her completely off guard right as her character was reaching a key turning point.

“It was just as much of a bolt out of the blue for me as it was for everyone else,” Sane said of the departure.

With discussions ongoing and interest coming from multiple fronts, Sane remains one of the top available free agents in professional wrestling today.

Tony Khan shouldn’t rush to sign every former WWE name simply because they’re available on the open market. Is Kairi Sane a genuine megastar? No. Is she capable of single-handedly elevating the AEW women’s division after spending years floating around the WWE mid-card? Highly doubtful.

A move to AEW would bring the predictable temporary hype for her debut, but she would almost certainly end up lost in a bloated roster full of underutilized talent—and at a premium price tag Khan doesn’t need to be paying.
