Following weeks of speculation regarding the viewing options for WWE x AAA Worlds Collide, WWE officially announced during Friday’s broadcast of SmackDown that the crossover supercard will not air live on Saturday, September 26.
Instead, the event—taking place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois—will air on a four-day tape delay, premiering free on WWE’s YouTube channel on Wednesday, September 30, at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT. The broadcast will serve as a lead-in to AEW Dynamite, which airs live from Pittsburgh just one hour later at 8 PM ET.
Internal Confusion And Commentary Plans
The decision to delay the broadcast confirms earlier reports that WWE had scrapped live broadcast coverage:
- Remote Commentary Setup: On a recent episode of Something To Wrestle, WWE Hall of Famer and AAA commentator JBL revealed that announcers were not being flown to Chicago. Instead, commentary teams will record voiceovers post-fact.
- Head-To-Head Strategy Pivots: Despite running live at the Allstate Arena on the exact same night as AEW All Out in nearby Hoffman Estates, WWE opted against a direct pay-per-view or live streaming head-to-head clash.
